  • ALAN BARNES QUARTET

    Date:
    Monday 17th August 2015 at 8:30pm
    Ticket Price:
    £11

ALAN BARNES plays music that was radical 50 years ago - hard urban post bop - but he infuses it with so much passion and energy you could believe it was minted on the spot - which is always part of the story of jazz (John Walters, The Guardian)

32 years ago Alan formed a "musical marriage" with DAVE NEWTON which, to our delight, has survived the test of time. Dave's musical upbringing in Scotland saw him listening always to Peterson, Tatum and Garner. So - it's hardly surprising he was best Jazz Pianist in BJA for the 13th time in 2014. In 2003 he was made a Fellow of the Leeds College of Music.

On double bass it's the simply DAVE GREEN - with BOBBY WORTH - drummer to the Stars.
