There are songs and singers ..... and then.....there is MARLENE VerPLANCK....who may be the most accomplished interpreter of popular modern material performing today.
From Big Bands to Studio work, Radio, TV, Clubs and Concerts - Marlene VerPlanck has done it all.
She has the kind of skill which makes her voice a fourth instrument onstage. Marlene clearly loves what she does and still, after all these years, projects the young, unjaded quality of a performer who still wants to share.
We are so fortunate to be able to share an evening with MARLENE VerPLANCK - the Ultimate Professional.
Such talent and skill demands top class backup - and so this evening Marlene's Trio is :

"GEOFF EALES is unique - and this event is a part of his 65 Birthday Tour - Congratulations Geoff !
When you talk to him one word comes up over and over, eclectic. Eclectic is a word he uses to describe some of his influences, for example Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock. It also accurately describes, not only Geoff's playing, but also his life.....any performance by Geoff will refer to the varied influences and experiences of his life so far : a splendid synthesis of all that he knows from Messiaen through Henry Mancini to Bill Evans."
Jazz critic Dave Gelly, writing in The Observer in 2005, referred to him as "phenomenally accomplished".
MICHAEL COATES, Canadian born Saxophonist appears with Geoff this evening. Michael took up saxophone at the age of 11 - eventually moving to London in 1992 where, in seemingly no time at all, he had become a familiar face at London's jam sessions in the West End - leading of course to Ronnie Scotts, the Vortex, Dean Street Pizza Express etc....as well as travelling extensively and pursuing a very busy career on the London Session scene. We are delighted to see Michael back at Bexley once more.
Supporting Geoff and Michael will be SANDY BURNETT on double bass with MARC CECIL on drums.
