SARAH MOULE is one of Britain's foremost interpreters of modern song - although she is clearly influenced by jazz phrasing. Her truly outstanding voice will get under your skin. She has said "I really fell in love with jazz listening to Thelonius Monk"......"and then I discovered fantastic writers like Lorenz Hart and Johnny Mercer."
SIMON WALLACE - Sarah's husband, Composer, Pianist and Musical Director has, over the years, written and produced music for Shows such as Absolutely Fabulous, French & Saunders, Rub Wax etc etc. In contrast, he has written a 5 Movement Symphony for the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra. GREG ABATE returns to Bexley this evening. Greg is a multi instrumentalist - equally at home on Alto, Tenor, Soprano, Baritone, Flute. He is a be-bopper pure and simple - think Charlie Parker, Phill Woods. When our very own - and so sadly missed - Joe Mudele first heard him last year he turned to me and said "What a sound" - quite a compliment coming from Joe.
Greg will be supprted this evening by the superb CRAIG MILVERTON/keyboards - JULIAN BURY on double bass and NICK MILLWARD on drums.

ALAN BARNES plays music that was radical 50 years ago - hard urban post bop - but he infuses it with so much passion and energy you could believe it was minted on the spot - which is always part of the story of jazz (John Walters, The Guardian)
32 years ago Alan formed a "musical marriage" with DAVE NEWTON which, to our delight, has survived the test of time. Dave's musical upbringing in Scotland saw him listening always to Peterson, Tatum and Garner. So - it's hardly surprising he was best Jazz Pianist in BJA for the 13th time in 2014. In 2003 he was made a Fellow of the Leeds College of Music.
On double bass it's the simply DAVE GREEN - with BOBBY WORTH - drummer to the Stars.

DON WELLER - tenor saxophonist - worked regularly with pianist Stan Tracey - also with Harry Beckett and Art Themen's Quintet - amongst so many others. Don is renowned for his versatility and character - from idiosyncratic headgear and whiskers to his Top Tenor Awards in '94, '96 and '98.
With Don this evening is gifted pianist & composer JOHN DONALDSON - having worked with them all - from Clark Tracy to Scott Hamilton to Norma Winstone etc etc etc.
On Bass this evening will be the great ANDY CLEYNDERT with his wonderful 'woody' sound and, for the first time at Bexley, DAVE BARRY on drums.

GUNTHER KURMAYR - has spent many years touring the world with the Ray Gelato Giants. Tonight he leads his top notch trio on a journey through the Great American Songbook, shining new light through old windows and infusing timeless standards with a uniquely impressionistic classical style.
With Gunther this evening is JEROME DAVIES on Double Bass.........who, as well as playing, also makes and repairs String Instruments which, he says, gives him a unique insight to a musician's relationship with his instrument.
RICHARD PITE - a drummer who has made a speciality of vintage drumming techniques during the early days of the 20s and 30s through to the great names of the swing era - Jo Jones, Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa. Richard also plays tuba and double bass and, in his spare time, is Director of Music at Boisdale.
